We found and painted with "nature's paintbrushes" this week. Walking in the meadow and looking at the stalks, milkweed, and sticks, we picked and chose until we had a basketful of items and then the next day we used them to paint with. Sometimes the seeds came out of the flowers right onto our pictures! There was lots of "brushy" motion as the children explored moving paint with things that were definitely not paintbrushes!
We mapped our classroom, with tape and drawings, and even mapped ourselves by having our bodies traced and then adding colors. The children are referring to maps as we play (I collect maps where ever I go, so they are always in supply) and making conversation about "going on vacation" or "traveling" , which tells us that they know about maps as references for finding your way!
The outside world was magical as always, even in the rain! We had time on the playground, in the outdoor classroom, and on the trails this week.
Learning how to join in duck duck goose!
Until Next Time,
Michele
