Growing Things !

We planted seeds this week and have been talking about how seeds grow.  The children are singing the "If You've Got the Sun" song, and they know that our plants need soil, sun, and water to grow.  We experimented with  celery and colored water, making predictions and observing results.  As you can see, the color went up!

We gave the children a piece of paper with a bean seed glued in the middle, and they "celebrated" the seed with colors and details.

We have seeded our sunflower beds for next year's 10 foot sunflowers!

Our science table has become a growing table.  It takes a few days for the seeds to look like anything is happening, and we check every day for results.

At the same time, we have been writing and reading our "original stories" aloud, and with our own growing up selves are listening and commenting on each other's work.  When the children sit with me, I ask them "what would you like to write about? What do you know a lot about?" and the pages just flow. We have books about families, favorites, chicks, and sports to name a few! We are excited to share our literature with our families on our show of work day!

In other news, our classroom is a space of vibrant building, amazing helpers, and friendly faces!

Until Next Time,

Michele
