Celebrating the Week of the Young Child!

We had such fun planning a week of celebrating the children! They had many ideas for celebrations, and we incorporated them all into days of creative, crazy fun!

from www.nayec.org:

"The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize that children's opportunities our our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early learning environment-at home, at child care, at school, and in the community-that will promote their early learning."

and so we celebrate!

Monday, hat day, meant wearing a hat to school, and maybe even drawing a picture of a celebration hat! We read Jon Klassen books about hats, and just celebrated.

Tuesday was Wolf day-we practiced our story, ran like wolves, and even ate outside like wolves.  The hit of the day was the "wolf ice cream" which turned out to be a sundae with vanilla ice cream, non dairy whipped cream, and strawberry ears!

Wednesday was PAJAMA DAY and included watching popcorn pop right out of a popper and watching a movie with the 3's. It was all cozy all day!

Thursday (the week sped by!) was costume day, and it was party party party time.  We had hand painting, a costume
parade, a costume/dance party, a little bit of ice cream and maple syrup sampling, and games.  Fun!

And finally, Friday was SILLY! The children played with silly games, played with goopy slime, and used bouncy balls to paint with.

Altogether a wonderful week! Thank you for supporting your children's creative requests for costumes and fun!

Until Next Time,
Michele
