Spiders and Other Crawling Things!

Our exploration of spiders actually involved a lot of talk about insects. There were insects and pegs, with string to make "traps", and we read many books about spiders both fictional and real.

We wove spiderwebs from ribbon and cardboard.

We headed outdoors in all of the weather, collecting wood and pinecones, looking for spiders.

The alphabet letters are almost all covered with dots. This activity appeals to all of the children!

We found a worm! Now we have a worm habitat in the classroom. It's dark, and damp, and full of dirt. Just like the worm will like it.

We made "webs" with glue and salt, then painted the web with watercolor for a vivid piece of art.

We created "bug hotels" from a gathering of sticks into a clear tube cut from a seltzer bottle. We hope to find some interesting bugs in the hotels after break!

The weather on Thursday, April 1 was all the news. SNOW?

We explored all sorts of spiders this week, with art projects, digging outside, books, and songs. We had a very busy week!  We even practiced wiggling like worms. NO arms or legs allowed!

Until Next Time,

Michele
