The View From Here

As we are operating without parents coming into the building, I miss the opportunity for sharing our beautiful work!  Today's blog is dedicated to the work that the children are doing in the classroom, giving you a chance to see a display in action.

For each portrait, the child painted with marbles/magnets and the colors of Jacob Lawrence's palette.  We spent time drawing small self portraits with sharpie, and coloring in the skin tones with a color that matched.  Our I AM statements were developed after we read about Jean Michel-Basquiat, who called himself a "radiant child", which is perhaps the ultimate of compliments.  The background of the display is influenced by the art of Faith Ringgold.  This display celebrates the differences and similarities that we experience as a classroom community.

Our I AM poem is a combination of all of our radiant child statements. We are proud of ourselves and proud of the community that we are becoming!

 Until Next Time,

Michele
