AND It's Fall!

All of a sudden, it's Fall! We veered off course to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and weather.

Our trail is named "RAINBOW FOREST TRAIL PREK" and the sign is put up to mark it. We decided what shapes we will need to create our map, including the shelter, trees, long logs, and short logs. We'll use glue and paper cut outs to create a map.

The boundaries are working very well for the children. They are free to run within them, and if there's someone who is "out of bounds" they are sure to hear about it.

We added the colors of Fall to our classroom -pounding leaves outside to see what colors could be "squeezed out" and using cookie cutter shapes to print in bright fall colors of orange, red, and yellow on a brilliant blue.

Our time outside was spent walking to discover milkweed pods and seeds-it's very satisfying to shake them and see the seeds fly! Looking at the incredible forest floor, gathering leaves, and creating a fort outside also kept us busy. We are grateful for our forest spaces.

A few children have a great interest in finding out where the seeds are in the pinecones (sometimes referred to as "raccoons" in our classroom). They have been scraping them against a log.  We've brought some fresh ones inside to see what happens when they "dry out."

Scientific Inquiry!

Until Next Time,
Michele
